Let's Talk Speech FAQ

Private Therapy

Do you accept Insurance?
At this time, Let’s Talk Speech is a private-pay practice. I’m not currently in-network with insurance providers, but I’m happy to keep your information on file as I work toward accepting insurance in the future. I can also provide a superbill (an itemized receipt) that you may submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.

Where are you located?
I’m based in Manvel, TX, and I offer both in-person and virtual services depending on your location and needs.

How long are sessions?
Session length depends on the service and the client’s needs, but most therapy sessions are 30 to 60 minutes. We’ll determine what works best during our initial consultation.

Can you collaborate with my child’s school or other providers?
Yes! With your permission, I’m happy to collaborate with teachers, school SLPs, or other professionals to ensure your child receives consistent, coordinated support.

Parent Coaching

What is parent coaching?
Parent coaching is a collaborative process where I work with you to support your child’s communication at home. We’ll talk through your goals, challenges, and routines, and I’ll share practical strategies you can use in everyday moments.

How is coaching different from therapy?
Therapy is direct work with the child, while coaching focuses on empowering the adults in their life. Coaching sessions are conversation-based and tailored to your questions, routines, and goals — so you feel confident supporting communication every day.

Can I book just one coaching session?
Yes! You can book a single session or a series, depending on your needs. Some families or professionals just need a one-time consult, while others prefer ongoing support. We’ll find what works best for you.

Leadership Support

What types of organizations do you work with?
I support schools, private practices, early intervention programs, and community-based organizations. Whether you're leading a team of educators or running a small practice, I tailor support to your goals.

What does Leadership & Learning Support include?
This service includes professional development workshops, team coaching, systems support, and strategic consultation. I help teams strengthen communication practices, improve service delivery, and grow with confidence.

Can you customize training for our team?
Absolutely. I design trainings and coaching sessions around your team’s specific needs — whether it’s supporting neurodiverse learners, building communication-rich classrooms, or mentoring SLPs and educators.

Do you offer one-on-one coaching for professionals?
Yes! I work with SLPs, educators, and leaders who want personalized guidance on clinical decision-making, leadership growth, or building sustainable systems in their practice or school.

More Than a Bio

My mission is to make communication support more accessible, giving families and professionals tools that are evidence‑based and easy to use.

Hi, I’m Talisa — a mom, a licensed speech‑language pathologist, and a sister to a brother with autism. Some seasons stretch you. Mine gave me two babies, a doctorate, and the courage to build something of my own.

I knew I wanted to be an SLP at nine. My brother got lost in a mall, and I remember thinking, How will he say “Here I am” if he can’t speak? At home, we practiced what I now know was child‑led, play‑based therapy. The next time he wandered too far, he called out, “Here I am.” That moment never left me. We still work together today — job interviews, asking for raises, even first‑date pep talks.

Years later, in 2017, I started a small speech Instagram primarily for my supervising SLPAs and grad students. Then in 2023, a friend saw my passion and said, “You should get your EdD.” I was six months pregnant at the time, but something in me said yes. I applied, was accepted, became a LEAD Scholar, traveled to CPED in San Diego, and presented my dissertation in practice in Hawaii. The program didn’t just give me credentials —it strengthened my leadership skills and helped me see myself as someone who could create change, not just respond to it. Yes, I gave birth one week before classes started and again one week after defending. There’s never a perfect time to follow your passion.

Today, I’m 15 years into the district I love, working as a Lead SLP alongside some of the best in the state (I am not kidding). I learn every day from colleagues, students, and my own children.

With my toddler, I’ve seen the magic of language development up close. People say, “His mom must be an SLP.” True — but I want every parent to have access to the “secrets” I went to school to learn.

Because here’s the real truth: I’m just a mom too. I Google symptoms. I overthink screen time. I wonder if I’m doing enough. I just happen to know what to look for, what to try, and how to trust the process. And now, I want to share that with you. So here I am, in 2026, starting Let's Talk Speech and SLPMomTalk to grow a community of parents and educators aiming to strengthen communication skills.
